MSM where are you?
How did the MSM miss this?
It seems that spent fuel rods are are stored in the overhead area of the Mark1 version of the Fukushima Reactor buildings. This is supported by the graphic borrowed from NPR website, that was borrowed from www.world-nuclear-news.org. This graphic plainly depicts that this is where these spent rods are stored.
So lets go back and look at the buildings before and after the blast. If the graphic supplied above is correct and the spent rods are stored where they say they are then where did these RADIOACTIVE RODS go when these buildings blew up?
What is happened to these rods? They are not stored in the primary containment vessel so they did in-fact get launched into the sky when the no1 and no3 containment buildings blew up, these rods were in wet storage located ABOVE the CORE not in it.
I hope and pray I am wrong but the stories coming out of Japan already confirm that the spent fuel rods that were on fire in the no 4 building were exposed to a point that would allow a fire to both burn and be extinguished, that one statement of fact confirms that they are not stored in the core containment area. So if this is the truth then you can rest assured that these rods in wet storage at Fukushima 1 and 3 went air-born and are now scattered about the area and are emitting radiation on land and in the ocean.
The UN nuclear watchdog was told by Japanese officials that Japan had extinguished a fire at the spent fuel storage pond of its earthquake-stricken reactor, the Vienna-based agency said.
“Japanese authorities have confirmed that the fire at the spent fuel storage pond at the Unit 4 reactor of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant was extinguished,” the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said. SOURCE : http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=212200
So now we need to know how many rods are stored in these wet storage ponds. How dangerous are they and what will happen to the ones that got blown into the ocean? These are dangerous and of course deadly to anyone that gets around them.
So I am just wondering why this is not being reported by the mainstream media? This is now general knowledge that these are stored where they say they are so it should be a headline story.

Quit fearmongering. You have no proof of this and are going off of a layman’s diagram that really doesn’t give enough information to determine this.

I am posing a real situation. I am asking a question.
Did you see where the graphic originated? Did you decide to attack me before considering what I am asking.
Or are you one of those that is better off spoon feed and incapable of looking at what if scenarios.
Well the question I am asking here is LEGITIMATE not fear mongering.
I assume you already have these answers or you would not have attacked me.

Be aware that General Electric, which designed these reactors and is staring at trillions of dollars on losses from lawsuits and loss of future sales of this design, have launched a huge PR campaign in the mainstream media and here online (as you can see) to downplay this disaster.
As for the storage rods, those are being reported in the foreign press and even TEPCO admits they are the far more serious threat than the reactor cores themselves. All six rooftop storage pools are in varying stages of difficulty. When Reactor 4 exploded and we were all told it was simply hydrogen, the color of the smoke that issued from the building was not white like steam, but yellow-brown, which is the color of quadravalent plutonium oxide. So we can already add #4 to the list of storage pools whose contents are scattered to the four winds. The brackets separating the spent rods in the cooling pools in buildings 5 and 6 collapsed during the quake, so the rods collapsed to the bottom of the tank where they began to spontaneously fission, and TEPCO reports both pools are heating up.
When General Electric designed this reactor, three of the designers quit rather than sign their names to a design they thought did not meet safety requirements for use in quakes zones. GE has sold this reactor around the world, including 23 units in the US itself.
Maybe GE needs to change their motto from “We bring good things to life” to “We bring a glow to the world!”

No proof of what? The Mark 1 design and the design of those housing buildings are well-distributed. That the spent rod pools are above the reactors and may contain up to 8 reactor loads in EACH of the seven pools is FACT.
It is a FACT that repeated nuclear experts have said exposure of spent fuel rods in the spent rod pools would be many times worse than a meltdown in the reactor containment chambers.
It is a FACT that the roof of one of the units blew sky-high over 1,000 ft into the air in a split-second. What DID happen to those rods? If they are laying around the facility yard then humans can’t even approach them without dying.
Notalemming was sufficiently pragmatic about his claims and delineated well his speculation.
I think the problem is that he is Notalemming and perhaps you are….

On this link you will find a power point describing the spent fuel storage situation at japans nuclear plants. In slide 9 you can clearly see that there is a storage pond located at each reactor plus 2 extra common ponds that have been created to carry the increasing burden of spent fuel rods….

the NIRS is a public education resource. The Nuclear Information and Resource Service. The data on the power point is from the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO)

Thank you for this information.
This is not a good situation no matter how you look at it.
Man has to encompass risk if he is going to grow.
Unfortunately this involves things like Oil Rigs and Nuclear power etc.
Its too bad we cannot agree that the world just simply is not ready for all the Green Transformation as of yet.
Don’t get me wrong. 1) I think AGW, Global Warming is a clear fraud. 2) I have 1 500Watt wind Turbine and a series fo Solar panels that = 1000watts.
But this is me. I will rail against Green energy all day long. I have a right to because I understand its limitations through self experimentation and my own capital investment.
But do not steal my money under the cover of Global Warming.
We have to have these Nuke Plants, We still require coal for all those stupid electric cars. YES ELECTRIC CARS RUN ON COAL Go Figure! they never look at the obvious do they.
We still require Oil, so lets drill our own and tell the Middle East to go torch its-self! Keep this in mind with the 3 Mile islands and the Chernobyl’s. This in Japan was not a man made accident. These other two were.

Clearly you have your head in the sand and there is nothing to worry about, right? Also, Mickey Mouse is our President (USA) and The 3 Stooges run his office. Always look at what the left hand is doing……..and if something does not seem right to you, then there must be something wrong somewhere, especially when our sources are legitimate. Oh, I forgot, you are a liberal. Only liberals use the word “fearmongering”…even that I know. It’s better to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. I would rather know the TRUTH then NOT, so I can prepare my family and friends. YOU, on the other hand, on one of those people who, after seeing all the fact, still do not believe….then, when the worst happens, you run and cry FOUL and blame someone else. Mmmmmmm…….that’s a liberal.

tanya, calm down. your right an once of prevention is worth a pound of pain. but please cut the liberal bs. i use the word “fear mongering often”, im not liberal or conservative. making silly statements like that weaken your position and credibility. this has nothing to do with liberal and conservatives geeeezz. It more an issue of ignorance and investigation. Some will seek answers and others are content with what officialdoom says. I agree with you, but keep the discussion relevant. This liberal bashing makes you look like the ignorant. I know alot of naive liberals, but I also know alot of foolish concervatives too.
They are lying to us, they always have, and always will. look it up in history, its a fact. it happens all the time. Assume the worst till you know more.

That sound more like CONservatives. After all they have CON right up front in their name. It was under a CONservative regime of little georgie bushjunior that the economy was wrecked. Yet the CONs still run like the wind from responsibility. It was a CONservative regime of georgie bushjunior that missed the warnings of terrorist attack. Yet you CONs run screaming it’s everyone elses fault. It was a CONservative regime of georgie bushjunior that lied about WMD’s to start a war. Yet you CONs keep doing what you do best by lying about it. It was a CONservative regime of the puppet actor ronnie reagan which first started wrecking the economy by sending jobs overseas and letting finance predators do whatever they want. Yet you CONS whine and cry and shirk any responsibility. And it is the CON regimes pushing for nuclear power and whining when President Carter said we neede to start working toward energy conservation and clean energy. Yet you CONs belittle him and anyone else who speaks truth because you are followers of the Prince of Lies.

Yes it appears like the worst case scenario for the Japanese.
Yes there is a lot of radiation being dispersed.
Yes the Japanese government will play it down.
Yes the US government will downplay the risks to our west coast, but how deadly will the fallout really be from 7,000 miles away?
We’ll only know when private citizens in CA, OR, AK show their geiger counters on youtube
No TV news ( government or corporate influenced) should be believed on this matter

The spent fuel rods were in the pond at number 4 because that reactor was down for maintenance. Ergo the rods were in the pool.
In reactors 1,2 and 3 the rods were in the reactor, being used and are there still.

As I understand they have over 35 years worth of used rods stored at those plants. Including buildings 1, 2 and 3.
As long as all spent rods can be accounted for and things continue to get the correct application of remedies.
I’m praying.
I also think it is ludicrous for all these nation leaders deciding to terminate Nuke Power with out first replacing it.

Thank you for posting. I heard that #3 used recycled plutonium? That could make this very bad. Still can’t beleave after looking at the pictures people still beleave these pools are intact. Well, you can’t “panic” the people with the truth. If people get too worried they will take action to protect themselves which would take away lucrative price-inefficient contracts from the Govt to the Corporations.
Like after Katrina shipments of food, water and supplies from individuals, churches and charitable organizations were turned away at gunpoint by FEMA goons saying, “there is no need” when there really was. Instead Halliburton was contracted to bring in sub-quality items at extraordinary cost and Blackwater was paid $900/day per man to confiscate citizens guns.
If the people protect themselves from radiation then the chemical, pharmaceutical and medical corporations will lose TONS of Govt contracts. Think of the losses to the chemotherapy industry alone.
Follow the $….

You are sure correct about that. In the middle of disaster, the government’s cronies are out to make a fast buck or at least keep the GE stock price high.
All over the web I am seeing signs of a massive public relations (lying) campaign to protect General Electric and the nuclear power industry as a whole. All that is missing is Obama taking his daughter for a swim sort of close to the Gulf of Mexico, ummm, I mean the sea of Japan.

This nuclear plant complex disaster, to me, is just another indicator that it can’t be long before Jesus Christ comes back. In Revelation there is mention of judgment coming on those who destroy the earth. This nuclear disaster is an example. The technology to produce energy without using uranium, coal, oil, or gas, has already been invented, but has been suppressed. The technology to take the radioactivity out of spent fuel rods has also been invented, but suppressed. It was a) unnecessary to even have those plants, and b) if they were going to be there, to have all the spent fuel rods around in an extremely radioactive state. Then c) for the thing to be susceptible to cooling failure under any circumstance. The video of the dirty brown mushroom cloud over reactor 3, with what certainly appear to be masses of spent rods falling out of the cloud back down to the earth, is certainly an example of something which is going to be destroying the earth, and the companies and superrich individuals behind it are going to be judged by Christ probably within the next 10 years.
The only justifiable reason for suppressing free energy and other such technologies is the sin nature of man. It may certainly be weaponizable, and probably alot more powerful than nuclear weapons. I would just about bet that when Jesus comes back and at some point in the future there is a thousand year kingdom set up on earth, that free energy technology is going to be a part of it. A free news media, too.
For those who would attack me for my argument, I’ll just say now, why don’t you just shut up and eat your evolution and secular humanism. If you believe in evolution and the accumulation of genetic information by random chance, I don’t even want to talk with you.
