And the right to travel freely as an American ends
UPDATED: December 28 2012
WASHINGTON— On December 20, 2012, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) determined that thirteen states have met the standards of the REAL ID Act of 2005 (“Act”) for driver’s licenses and identification cards and has granted a temporary deferment for all other states and territories.
…….Beginning January 15, 2013, those states not found to meet the standards will receive a temporary deferment that will allow Federal agencies to continue to accept their licenses and identification cards for boarding commercial aircraft and other official purposes. CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -
Louisiana residents who never travel out of the country don’t have much use for a passport, but that will soon change early next year.
Beginning January 15th, Louisiana will join 26 other states [update: 7 states as of Dec 7th 2012] that will require a passport for entry into federal buildings and all commercial flights, no matter their destination. The change stems from the 2005 “Real ID” law, which went into effect in 2008. The bill paved the way for a universal identification system across the country, but several states including Louisiana opted out of the program.
Louisiana State Representative Brett Geymann co-authored a state bill excluding Louisiana from the federal law.
By 2014, each state must issue driver’s licenses and ID cards that meet minimum federal requirements to be compliant with the law. The new cards will contain tamper-proof information and, eventually, biometric technology. “Your driver’s license would essentially become an ID number that could be swiped and scanned on either a federal building, bank, getting on or boarding an airplane,” Geymann said. “We were very concerned about identity theft, the privacy, who was going to be capturing the data and who would have their hands on that information that would be very personal.”
Geymann’s concern was also felt by 26 other states. As of June, more than half of states have passed legislation opposing some portion of the “Real ID” law. Read the rest here http://ow.ly/eB4PZ

It is no joke and Bush was a PROGRESSIVE. Like OBAMA. Notice how similar the policies seem after 4 years?

The Real ID Laws come out of the Bush War on Terror ‘all’ sponsored by Republicans. This is called the chickens coming home to roost. My guess is it will all be ‘much ado about nothing’ and we will have enhanced driving licenses functioning as better identification.
I have a hard time understanding why the same folks demanding voter IDs to vote resist voter IDs to travel. It is a linked web.

Ok, this is created by Bush and signed by Jindel, card carrying Tea Party members so what is the big whoop? This is Voter ID laws in a red dress any way you look at it. I think this is called karmic debt or unintended consequences coming back to bite you in the ass. My passport is good for the next 8 years so I should be able to enter any Red state I want any time.

This has nothing to do with The Tea Party you moron. This was all WAY before the Tea Party. And your Fascist Obama makes Bush look like a Tea Party Patriot. But I know they are BOTH Fascist turncoats. The difference between Bush and Obama is Obama actually wants to destroy America so he can reboot it as Spain or some other Failed Green country.

The Tea Party appeared within days of Obama’s election only because it was planned at least a year before when it was obvious that after 8 years of Bush/Cheney anything but would be fine. It was not close to grassroots otherwise why was Big Media lined up: Fox in particular but also their Idiot Child who they eventually institutionalized: Beck.
What part of voting ID laws do you not get?
This is just chicken’s coming home to roost.

The tea party was not PLANNED you stooge. It was co-opted from Ron Paul followers and in that fact alone it is more grass roots than anything the time buying unions and tripe on the left has ever managed to put together. YOU fecal-flossers have to PAY protestors to go protest your stupid leftist COVETOUS agendas or threaten their jobs. YOU REPRESENT EVIL THOM!

Ron Paul is a 35 year politician so how can grass find any root in that? Unions are grassroot since your parents and grand parents paid for their existence with their blood and sweat. The Green Party, excuse the pun is grass root and currently in jail because they couldn’t get equal time. The Tea Party has no roots if you look at the leaders: all recycled repubs.
Membership and demographics
Several polls have been conducted on the demographics of the movement. Though the various polls sometimes turn up slightly different results, they tend to show that Tea Party supporters are mainly white and slightly more likely to be male, married, older than 45, more conservative than the general population, and likely to be more wealthy and have more education.[152][153][154][155][156]

I am a Louisiana Cajun. I never go on airplanes and rarely go to government buildings, but this is looking less and less like America. Too bad Napoleon sold my land to Jefferson.

PAPERS PLEASE……SHOW ME YOUR PAPERS NOW DAMNIT! This is probably going much deeper than anyone realizes. Living here in Louisiana myself, I know for sure what crooked politics looks like. I have heard a little about it and it scares me on about 100 different levels. Thanks for the post. I’ll reblog it and get the word out……AGAIN. Pray and keep your powder dry.
